Ballston Lake, NY – The new iPhone 4 hit the market one week ago and sold like hotcakes. I guess it should come at no surprise that when the smartphone king drops their annual benchmark, it draws a crowd. Some of my co-workers took the day off to wait in line.
According to the people I have talked to, the iPhone is reason why they left Verizon for AT&T. Verizon’s smartphone lineup showcases phones like the HTC Droid Incrdible and the Motorola Droid X, powered by the Google-developed Android operating system. As great as they are, they still fall short when compared to Apple’s iPhone. And you shouldn’t think for a second that Verizon doesn’t know that.
Bloomberg reported yesterday that two sources “familiar with the plans” say that patient Verizon customers will be rewarded in January 2011 with the much anticipated, often rumored, Verizon iPhone.
Granted, this is not the first time that a Verizon iPhone has been rumored. It seems that AT&T’s exclusivity agreement with Apple always finds a way to live on.
But let me put it this way: My two year contract with Verizon runs up at the end of the month and I am in the market for a smartphone. If this is just a ploy to stop people from jumping to AT&T for the IPhone, it worked on me.
