Moving on

Poughkeepsie, NY – My girlfriend Felice recently gave her two weeks notice at her night/weekend job at a retail store in the mall.  All she really had to do was scribble on a piece of paper, “I’m outta here in two weeks.”  But since she’s an English major, she decided to have some fun with this departure letter. I think it’s the classiest piece of work I’ve ever read:

Dear Management,

I wanted to thank you for the opportunity to work with and under you for the last 10 months.

At this time I’ve accepted a summer position and will be unable to work for the entire months of July and August. As of June 28, 2010–two weeks from the current date–I will suspend my employment at your store. If necessary I will re-apply in the fall for a position as Sales Associate. Once again I thank you for your time, cooperation, collaboration and understanding in past months and in the present situation.

I wish you the best in future management endeavors.

Sincerely,

Felice
